"I have been systematically working through
reading the... Reformed CDs I purchased. I must say, there is nothing like
them available anywhere. It is the most amazing collection of works I know of
in one package to date... The Puritan and Reformed material presented on these CDs
is exceptional. I am continually amazed at the depth and breadth of information
in both collections, and the rarity of works that I now have at my fingertips.
You have done an immeasurable service for the Kingdom of Christ in making these
CDs available, and every pastor and theologian should own them without question
(they would be foolhardy to pass them by) ... more"

"This collection of 62 CDs is a truly
astounding accomplishment. There is nothing like this available to the ordinary
Christian on the whole face of the earth. Now, for the first time ever, ordinary
Christians can have direct and near effortless access to the very cream
of Puritan and Reformed, as well as Covenanter, literature... What they used
to say of the Puritan John Flavel's preaching, can be said of these CDs: they
are 'hissing hot'! ... more" (emphases added).

Resource 1. Merle
D'Aubigne, J. H.
History of the Reformation in
Europe in the Time of Calvin (8 volumes, 1880 edition)
This engaging set, comprising eight volumes, is
the sequel to J.H. Merle D'Aubigne's History of the Reformation of the
Sixteenth Century
(in 5 Volumes, 1846, [$US34.91, cerlox bound photocopy; $US89.00, Hardcover
photocopy OUT OF PRINT]). In his typical easy-to-read,
captivating style, the author resumes where he had left off in his other five
volumes (which focused more on Luther and the period of Reform up to 1531),
entering, in this set, upon the more developed Reformation thought of Calvin,
Knox, et al.
The preface (in volume one) of this important
work states it this way,
At the conclusion of the preface to the first
volume of the History of the Reformation, the author wrote, 'This work will
consist of four volumes, or at the most five, which will appear successively.'
These five volumes have appeared. In them are described the heroic times of
Luther, and the effects
produced in Germany and other countries by the
characteristic doctrine of that reformer -- justification by faith. They present a picture
of that great epoch which contained in the germ the revival of Christianity in
the last three centuries. The author has thus completed the task he had
assigned himself; but there still remained another.
The times of Luther were followed by those of Calvin.
He, like his great predecessor, undertook to search the Scriptures, and in them
he found the same truth and the same life; but a different character
distinguishes his work.
The renovation of the individual,
of the Church, and of the human race, is his theme. If the Holy Ghost
kindles the lamp of truth in man, it is (according to Calvin) 'to the end that
the entire man should be transformed.' -- 'In the kingdom of Christ,' he says,
'it is only the new man that flourishes and has any vigor, and whom we ought to
take into account.' This renovation is, at the
same time, an enfranchisement; and we might assign, as a motto to the
reformation accomplished by Calvin, as well as to apostolical Christianity
itself, these words of Jesus Christ: The truth shall make you free. (John 8:32)...
The reformation of the sixteenth
century restored to the human race what the middle ages had stolen from them; it delivered them from
the traditions, laws, and despotism of the papacy; it put an end to the minority
and tutelage in which Rome claimed to keep mankind for ever; and by calling
upon man to establish his faith not on the word of a priest, but on the
infallible Word of God, and by announcing to every one free access to the
Father through the new and saving way -- Christ Jesus, it
proclaimed and brought about the hour of Christian manhood...
Luther transformed princes into heroes of the
faith, and we have described with admiration their triumphs at Augsburg and
elsewhere. The reformation of Calvin was addressed
particularly to the people, among whom it raised up martyrs until the time came
when it was to send forth the spiritual conquerors of the world. For three centuries it
has been producing, in the social condition of the nations that have received
it, transformations unknown to former times. And still at this very day, and
now perhaps more than ever, it imparts to the men
who accept it a spirit of power which makes them chosen instruments, fitted to
propagate truth, morality, and civilisation to the ends of the earth.
In this extensive
chronicle of international Reformation the author has made use
of the archives in Geneva, Calvin's Latin letters, numerous French documents of
the sixteenth century and many other sources not
readily available (especially to English readers). This has
greatly increased the value of this work, as a great deal of this information
is not available elsewhere in English. Moreover, the broad historical and
geographical range (from the Hugenots to the Netherlands to Norway and on)
covered herein, coupled with the author's extensive research (in various
languages) makes this an unique treasure for those seeking to "walk in the
footsteps of the flock" (Song of Solomon 1:8). In
fact, there are few other large Reformation histories, written by Calvinists,
that rival this set.

Resource 2. MANTON,
THOMAS
The Complete Works of Thomas
Manton
(22 Volumes)
Manton was "one of the most eminent of the
Nonconformist divines." He was born in 1620 and died in 1677. He was
chosen to write "The Epistle to the Reader: Especially Heads of
Families" of the famous Westminster standards. "Received episcopal
institution in 1661. Resigned in 1662, on account of the Act of Uniformity
(which among other wicked, Satanic enactments, its principal terms required a
"declaration of 'unfeigned assent and consent' to everything contained in
the Book of Common Prayer, re-ordination for those not episcopally
ordained" and, most evil of all, "a renunciation of the Solemn League
and Covenant. Knowing that the Puritans would not submit to such terms, the
Authorities framed the Act to secure their expulsion" cf. Sermons of
the Great Ejection by Iain Murray [Banner of Truth, reprinted 1962]). He was a man of great learning and extensive reading, of
a sound judgement, and had the art of reducing volumes of divinity into a
narrow compass. According to Charnock, he was the
best collector of sense of the age. Dr. Bates says , 'A clear judgement, rich
fancy, strong memory, and happy elocution, met in him, and were excellently
improved by diligent study'" (James Darling, Cyclopaedia Bibliographica, 1854, pp. 1953-1954).
Includes Manton's better known volumes, such as his commentary on James and
Jude and his Sermons on Psalm 119, as well as a host of other practical
preaching, teaching and Scriptural exposition. The 22nd volume contains two
large indices (by subject and text). A full list of everything included in this
massive set is at: http://www.swrb.com/catalog/M.htm.

Resource 3. LEA,
CHARLES HENRY
A History of the Inquisition
of the Middle Ages (1887, 4 volumes)
One of the perennial (and insurmountable)
challenges for men like Scott Hahn, Gerry
Matatics, and Karl Keating -- men who have devoted their lives and
labors to the defense and promulgation of the Roman Catholic apostasy -- is
dealing with their Church's history. The grim irony
is that while these modern champions of Antichrist demand submission to the
Holy Roman Church, contending that she alone has the witness of history and
truth on her side, it is her very history indeed which removes forever any
crumb of credibility to her claims of faithfulness and infallibility. Thus, it has always been
one of the most powerful weapons in the arsenal of Christ's faithful witnesses
simply to recount the true and undeniable history of the Mother of Harlots and
Abominations of the Earth (Rev. 17:5). This tactic was used with
devastating success by Luther, Calvin, and others, and is of equal necessity
and efficacy in our day -- especially in light of the detestable neutrality and
even outright returning to the ways of Rome on the part of so many
"Protestant" and even "Reformed" and "Presbyterian"
churches. Through this means it is hoped that God will wake up His people to
the true nature of the ever-raging battle with the Dragon and his minions, and
drive us to our knees to seek His face, His forgiveness, and His grace to stand
against the darkness in our respective places and callings -- particularly
teaching our children the mighty acts of God in delivering His people in times
past from so great an evil, that they might be thankful and put their trust in
Him (Ps. 78:1-8).
In his atrocious chronicle, Rome Sweet Home: Our Journey to Catholicism,
Scott Hahn conveniently omits any mention of the
volumes of embarrassing and self-refuting details of the Roman Church's true
history, choosing instead to caricature the Reformers, pretend to scholarly
acumen, and do the very thing he hypocritically accuses Lorraine Boettner of
doing: presenting a lying portraiture of Rome. (See also the
reference to Hahn in the book summary for William Whitaker's Disputation on
Holy Scripture,
another irrefutable resource for squelching his siren song of spiritual
seduction: http://www.swrb.com/catalog/W.htm .) Therefore, we invite all seekers of truth to examine for
themselves one ugly chapter in the annals of Rome's abominations: the inquisition
of the Middle Ages. It is with gratitude to our merciful God and the
earnest desire for His powerful blessing that we once again present to the
public what was once a standard treatment on the subject, Henry Charles Lea's History
of the Inquisition of the Middle Ages.
To close, we leave you with Larry Birger's
comments. They are to the point and provide us with a telling summary of this
work (and the thoughts and feelings of righteous
indignation that such writing is sure to evoke among those led by the Spirit of
God),
I am simply amazed at the true
history of Rome. The best and only explanation I can find for why men would
endure, much less embrace, such a "church" is what God says in 2
Thess. 2: that He's given them over to blindness, that they might believe great
lies and thereby be justly damned for their failure to receive the love of the
truth. In just the glances I had at Lea's work, I am simply astonished that any
individual could submit himself to the "Holy Mother" of harlotries
and abominations which Rome is clearly seen to be in these volumes. The
Romish legacy of demonic brutality, inhumanity and disgrace stretches the
ability of even fallen man to comprehend.

ELLIOTT, E.B.
Horae Apocalypticae; or, A
Commentary on the Apocalypse, Critical and Historical; Including Also An Examination
of the Chief Prophecies of Daniel (1862, 4 volumes)
The title continues: "Illustrated by an
Apocalyptic Chart, and Engravings from Medals and Other Extant Monuments of
Antiquity. With Appendices: Containing, Besides Other matters, A Sketch of the
History of Apocalyptic Interpretation, Critical Reviews of the Chief
Apocalyptic Counter-Schemes, and Indices." This four volume set is
respected by many as a scholarly work on eschatology. It will be especially
valuable in our day as it absolutely destroys the Jesuit inspired preterist
system by conclusively proving a late date for the writing of the book of
Revelation. Elliott also demonstrates the
impossibility of the futurist system, which, like preterism, was also concocted
(as a system) by the Jesuits to counteract the classic Reformation eschatology
called historicism. That this is no small issue is clear, as Kevin Reed exhibits
(in his book review titled "The Ecclesiology of John Foxe: A book review
by Kevin Reed of John Foxe and the Elizabethan Church by V. Norskov Olsen
[Berkeley: University of California Press, 1973]") by citing Olsen when he
writes,
The Counter Reformation is
generally considered to have three aspects: the Jesuits, the Inquisition, and
the Council of Trent. In view of the significance of the Protestant apocalyptic
interpretation of history which prophetically pinpointed step by step the
events covering the whole Christian era from the beginning to the end, it seems
justifiable to suggest a fourth aspect, namely the praeteristic and futuristic
interpretations launched by Catholic expositors as a counterattack (p. 47).
All the major Reformers and all
the major Reformation creeds and confessions adopted the historicist position
-- and it is this position that Elliott so skillfully defends. Included in Horae
Apocalypticae
you will also find a very useful historical survey of who held which positions
concerning eschatology, much history on the Roman empire (and its interaction
with Christianity), how the Reformation, Islam,
etc. were prophesied in the Apocalypse, a world chronology according
to the Hebrew Scriptures (which would make the Earth 6127 years old), patristic
views of prophecy, the beast and his mark (666) revealed, and much more. The Papacy is also shown to be the apocalyptic
antichrist, which was a standard position among the Reformers.
Elliott also deals with Moses Stuart's Preterism.
Sadly, one major warning
needs to be given about this book. However valuable the contents are as a
defense of historicism (and the late date of the book of Revelation), the
author adopted the premillennial heresy and thus marred an otherwise useful
work when he promotes these views. 2611 pages, with
a 29 page index.

CALDERWOOD, DAVID
The History of the Kirk of
Scotland
(8 volumes)
"The extensive learning and eminent talents
of the Rev. David Calderwood, his matured experience in ecclesiastical affairs,
and especially in those of his native country, the persecutions he had endured
for his beloved Church, and the numerous works he had written in its defence,
all qualified him, in the happiest manner, for becoming a Historian of the Kirk
of Scotland. Above all, when the narrative was to be one of struggle and
suffering, in which the principalities and powers of the earth, as well as
those of darkness, were the antagonists, the record of such a conflict fell
most aptly into the hands of a man whom a monarch had in vain attempted to
brow-beat, and a whole hierarchy to silence. His own heart also appears to have
affectionately inclined towards this his most congenial occupation, so that,
after his return from exile, he spent many years in collecting and arranging
the materials necessary for such an important task. At last, when he had
reached his seventy-third year, the General Assembly, for the purpose of
enabling him to perfect his work, granted him an annual pension of 800 pounds
Scots. Calderwood died only two years afterwards; but he lived to accomplish
his purpose of writing the History of our National Church from the commencement
of the Reformation to the close of the reign of James the Sixth, in two, if not
three successive and copious revisals" (Preface to volume one, pp. v-vi).
This massive set (of over 6000 pages) was printed between 1842 and 1849. It contains
a 171 page index and Thomson's "Life of David Calderwood." The contents are listed and dealt with chronologically by
year; beginning in the preamble with the descent of the Scots from the ancient
Gauls, but formally covering the period (focusing to the church) from 1514 to
1625. Documents and information available no where else (that we know
of) are also included in this set. Must reading for researchers and those
interested in church history!

The History of Protestantism (3
volumes, 1878)
Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell
the towers thereof. Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye
may tell it to the generation following" (Ps. 48:12-13).
In direct opposition to the command cited above
in Psalm 48:12-13, when The History of Protestantism was first published, Rome banned this book, buying up and burning all the
copies that they could lay their hands on. It was more hated and denounced by Papists than any other book of its
time.
History is a powerful weapon and all tyrants seek to either revise or bury the
history of God's marvelous works. Rome is no exception. Rome twists history for its own wicked purposes, whereas Protestants
use history (as commanded in Scripture) to build one another up in our most
holy faith (Ps. 78:1-8).
"Wylie's... is the best history extant. I
welcome its republishing. Read it. Study it. Circulate it and by so doing you
will help to dispel the dark cloud of priestly superstition, popish idolatry
and papal tyranny encircling our land" writes Ian Paisley. He continues,
"The Reformation of the 16th century was the
greatest revival of New Testament Christianity since the days of Pentecost.
Then once more the gospel in its purity was preached with apostolic power and
with apostolic results."
This massive three-volume set contains nearly
2000 (8.5" X 11") pages, more than 500 illustrations and a 21 page
general index. It chronicles Protestantism in its progress from the first
century to the late 17th century -- though the focus is clearly on the 16th and
17th centuries. After dealing with the early church, other early
"Protestant" witnesses, the erection of the inquisition, Wycliffe,
Huss and the Hussite wars, Wylie begins to chronicle Protestant history
primarily as it grew in various nations. The
Netherlands, Scotland, Germany, England, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, France,
Poland, Bohemia, Hungary, Transylvania and various other locales, all receive
prominent and detailed notice. Geneva and the Protestantism of the Waldensian
valleys are also spotlighted. A whole section is devoted to the Jesuits,
exposing their demonic cruelty and aspirations in overthrowing Reformation
truth, persecuting the Reformers and unsettling the civil systems of all the
lands that they were allowed to enter. All major (Westminster Assembly, the
Solemn League and Covenant, the Synod of Dort, etc.) and many minor Protestant
victories are covered in the amazing accounts documented by Wylie. James Arminius
(Arminianism), Bloody (Queen) Mary, Charles II, and other notorious figures are
also covered in this comprehensive chronicle. Whether
recounting Luther's burning of the Papal Bull "excommunicating" him
or Calvin's refusing of the Lord's supper (close communion) to the Libertines of Geneva (who said they would kill
him for doing so), the pages of this
book provide soul-stirring testimony to the international life and death
struggle for the gospel of Christ that became known as the Protestant
Reformation.
As an added bonus the pictures in these books
are excellent for introducing children to major historical events relating to
the struggle, sacrifice and victory of Christ's church on earth. The pictures (in conjunction with the historical
accounts) of Protestant martyrs giving their lives for Christ have often made a
permanent and godly impression upon both young and old alike.
Moreover, this history can be used as a reference work (to gain an overview of
the great controversy between the true church of Christ and the false, Harlot
church of Rome) or read in greater detail to see the hand of God moving through
His people and church throughout the centuries (winning
over and/or testifying against various nations, tongues and kings, as we behold
Christ's two witnesses prophesying in the midst of the 1260 years of the great
apostasy [Rev. 10:8-17]).
In our day, when the Papal antichrist
addresses the United Nations, is often the subject of major news reports, and
regularly meets with national civil leaders (and when professing Protestants
are defecting to "the whore of Babylon," and signing
"peace" treaties with this great enemy of Christ [to fight cultural
battles]), these books are needed more than ever. William
Cunningham's words, though written many years ago, should be heeded by all
faithful Christians today, for he said, "[i]t is quite evident, from the
signs of the times, that the Popish controversy must be fought over again... It
is incumbent upon ministers of the gospel to prepare themselves for the
contest."
Wylie's History of Protestantism will do much to prepare all faithful Christians
to once again apply the sword of the Spirit to the Romish "MOTHER OF
HARLOTS" who sits on seven mountains (Rev. 17:9) and is "drunken with
the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus" (Rev.
17:6).
Many who have forgotten this
history have already become easy prey for the ecclesiatical beast of
Revelation. Don't let ignorance of history cause you to be torn by the claws of
our adversary.
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring
lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Pet. 5:8).

DARLING, JAMES
Cyclopaedia Bibliographica: A
Library Manual of Theological and General Literature, and Guide to Books for
Authors, Preachers, Students and Literary Men. Analytical, Bibliographical, and
Biographical (1854, 10 volumes)
An indispensable set for authors, researchers,
serious students of Scripture, librarians, ministers, collectors, rare book
dealers, etc. Contains
much information that is either unavailable elsewhere or would have to be
gleaned from several scattered volumes. Its ten volumes total 5245 pages. A phenomenal,
theological, bibliographical resource of staggering comprehensiveness. The
first section of this extremely rare set is a huge bibliography, organized by
authors alphabetically. Most known Biblical and theological publications, to
the author's day, are listed. Includes not only English listings, but Latin,
French and German also. The second part is a topical bibliography categorizing
items under the headings of Universal Knowledge, Theology (including the major
commentaries, sermons, articles and studies for just about every verse in the
Bible), a listing of Scripture texts (Hebrew, Greek and Latin) and an extensive
index. The Morning Post calls this massive work "the
most copious, accurate, and well-arranged catalogue of works in theological and
general literature which has as yet been published." Brownson's
Review noted that "for practical utility we know of none that surpasses
or approaches it."
Finally Bell's Messenger states, "No clergyman
or antiquarian should think it needless to possess a copy of this work. It will
smooth many a day's hard toil, by diminishing the labour of research, pointing
as it does, in an instant to works which it might have taken weeks, if not
months, or years, to search after." Don't miss this darling of
a help, which will ease and aid all your theological studies!

THE ENGLISH HEXAPLA EXHIBITING
THE SIX IMPORTANT ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT SCRIPTURES, WICLIF,
TYNDALE, CRANMER, GENEVAN, ANGLO-RHEMISH, AUTHORIZED OR KING JAMES VERSION (1841)
"Hexapla," of course, means
"six-fold" or "six-columned" As the section of this book
explaining the "Plan of the English Hexapla" notes, "the term
'Hexapla' was originally applied to the work executed by Origen in the 3rd
century; in which the first column contained the Hebrew Text of the Old
Testament; the second, the Hebrew text in Greek letters; the third, Aquila's
Greek version; the fourth, the translation of Symmachus; the fifth, the LXX
version (i.e. the Septuagint--RB); the sixth, Theodotion's version." The English Hexapla offered here contains the six English
translations noted in the title, arranged side by side for easy comparison and
reference. Dates for each version used
are as follows: Wiclif (1380), Tyndal (1534), Cranmer (1539), Geneva (1557),
Rheims (1582), King James Version (1611). Of special interest may be
the Geneva 1557 version (from a copy of the first edition), as both Geneva
Bible's presently in print contain later versions (1599 and 1602) of this text.
It should also be noted that the notes to the Geneva Bible are not included in
the English Hexapla, just the text. The 1611 edition of the KJV will also be of
value to those who would like to compare it with the more modern version of
this translation. "The notation of the verses has been inserted in all the
translations, for convenience of reference... In illustration of the utility of
the comparison of the various translations, much that is interesting might be
advanced, but which the use of the volume will at once afford. The varied,
although ordinarily equivalent manner in which the different translators render
the same phrase, often throws much light upon the exact meaning; and when the
versions vary in sense, the enquiry suggested with reference to the Original
cannot fail to afford profit while it interests" ("Plan of the
English Hexapla," pp. 161-162). Additionally this English Hexapla also
includes "The original Greek text after Scholz with the various
readings of the Textus Receptus and the principal Constantinopolitan and
Alexanderine manuscripts, and a complete collation of Scholz's text with
Griesbach's edition of 1805... The Greek text has been placed in the upper
part of each page, for the purpose of facilitating the comparison of the
versions with the Original, so desirable when they vary in rendering any
passage." This is all preceeded by a
detailed and annotated 160 page historical account of the English translations.

WILLIAM
Hebrews Commentary (1655,
1866 edition, 3 volumes)
Originally titled: "A Learned and Very Useful Commentary on the Whole Epistle to the Hebrews;
Wherein Every Word and Particle in the Original is Explained, and the Emphasis
Thereof Fully Shewed; the Sense and Meaning of Every Verse Logically and
Exactly Analyzed; Genuine Doctrines Naturally Raised; The Manifold Types of
Christ Unveiled, etc. Being the Substance of Thirty Years' Wednesday's Lectures
at Blackfriars, London." Darling calls this "a labourious and
valuable work, of very rare occurrence" (Cyclopaedia Bibliographica, p. 1295). "We greatly prize Gouge," writes Spurgeon of this
commentary, "upon any topic which he touches he gives outlines which may
supply sermons for months" (Commenting on Commentaries). Gouge was a leader among the Covenanted English
Presbyterians, a respected member of the Westminster Assembly and one of its
most active members. Some of his enemies vilified him as an "Arch
Puritan." 1162 pages of the cream of Puritan-style
commentating.

CALVIN, JOHN
Calvin's Selected Works (7
Volumes)
These remarkable volumes contain Calvin's tracts
and letters. They clearly exhibit why Calvin was one of the great saints (who defended the regulative principle of worship) and
why his work was singularly blessed of God. Understanding these works will
shed much light on our current situation; for many in the professed Christian
community live in as great (or greater) darkness today than those who were
contemporaries of Calvin. This set contains such classics as "The Necessity of
Reforming the Church," "The Catechism of the Church of Geneva,"
"An Antidote Against Trent," "The Sinfulness of Outward
Conformity to Romish Rites" and much more. Calvin's
only letter to Luther, his letters to Knox, Bullinger, Beza and a host of other
Reformers, along with Beza's 100 page Life of Calvin are also all included. Indexed, 3507 pages.

DIODATI, JOHN
Pious and Learned Annotations
Upon the Holy Bible Plainly Expounding the Most Difficult Places Thereof By
that Godly and Famous Divine, Mr. John Diodati, Late Minister of the Gospel in
Geneva (third edition [in two volumes], 1651)
The title continues: "Corrected and much
augmented, with additional notes of the same author, throughout the whole work.
And the analysis upon each several book of the Old and New Testament, setting
down the chief heads contained therein, being very much enlarged, is now fully
completed in this third edition." "These Annotations were first
written in Italian, by a reverend Protestant Divine
of the Church of Geneva, the most reformed in all France, and famous for the
great lights of it, John Calvin, Theodore Beza, and this renowned John Diodati,
their successor both in place and eminent erudition.... In fine,
here are choice Meditations, and sound expositions, more to be valued then
refined gold... and the choicest subject the world ever afforded, being Jesus
Christ and him crucified, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life"
(Translator from "To the Reader"). Concerning Diodati, Darling (Cyclopaedia
Bibliographica,
p. 918) writes, "Born at Geneva 1576; died 1640. This celebrated Italian
Protestant divine, belonging to a noble family from Lucca in Italy, is known
chiefly by his biblical works, and by his translation of Father Paul's
History of the Council of Trent into French. He was sent in 1618 by the
Church of Geneva to the Synod of Dort. His translation of the Bible into Italian is
still considered one of the best." Regarding these Annotations in particular
Darling further notes, "Short, but
comprehensive practical annotations; many of them were introduced into the
(Westminster--RB) Assembly's Annotations. The above (i.e. the third
edition--RB) is the best edition." Richard
Baxter, in compiling a list of the most essential books for Christian
edification, after listing the Bible and a Concordance, counseled Christians to
obtain "a sound Commentary or Annotations, either Diodati's, the English
(or Westminster--RB) Annotations, or the Dutch (A Christian Directory, p. 732). 1104 pages.

WESTMINSTER DIVINES & OTHER PURITANS (Gouge, Gataker, et al.)
The Westminster Annotations
and Commentary on the Whole Bible (6 volumes, 1657)
The original title read: "Annotations Upon
all the Books of the Old and New Testament: This Third, above the First and
Second, Edition so enlarged, As they make an entire Commentary on the Sacred
Scriptures: The like never before published in English. Wherein the Text is
Explained, Doubts Resolved, Scripture Parallel'd, and Various Readings
observed; By the Labour of certain Learned Divines thereunto appointed, and
therein employed, As is expressed in the Preface." The preface (found in
the first volume) recounts not only a short history
of the English Bible, but sets forth the great advantage to true Religion which
accrues (contrary to the mysticism of the Anabaptists and the
anti-intellectualism of the modern backsliding church) when faithful notes are
"bound in" with the Scripture text -- this bringing forth
nothing different than the effect generated (through God's grace) by faithful
preaching, faithful commentaries, faithful creeds, faithful covenants, faithful
confessions, etc. Pointing out that this blessing from God was never more
obvious than in the case of the Geneva Bible ($159.95, leather
hardcover) and its marginal notes (and that the people knew it to be so when
they were left with Bibles without annotations honoring to God), the preface
further states, "hence were divers of the Stationers and Printers of
London induced (by the people--RB) to petition the committee of the Honourable
House of Commons, for licence to print the Geneva notes upon the Bible, or
that some notes might be fitted to the new translation: which was accordingly
granted, with an order for review and correction of those of the Geneva
edition, by leaving out such of them as there was cause to dislike, by clearing
those that were doubtful, and by supplying such as were defective. For which purpose
letters were directed to some of us from the Chair of the Committee for
Religion (in 1648--RB), and personal invitations to others, to undertake and
divide the task among us, and so cometh in our part, whereof we shall give the
world a true and just account in that which followeth." The detailed
account which follows in the preface is fascinating, mentioning, among many
other things, the divines' "use of... the Dutch Bibles... set forth
at... Holland, by order of the States."
The diligence given, the energy expended, the
obvious humility, and the fearful trembling before God's Word which is evident
in these commentators makes this truly a classic Puritan work -- a work of great
value! Just knowing, as Barker points out, that this commentary was "prepared mostly by Westminster divines, by order of
Parliament, at the time of the Assembly" (Puritan Profiles, p. 37), certainly bodes
well for the level of scholarship it contains. Moreover, with Gouge, one of the
most respected English Covenanters at the Assembly playing a major role, the
thoughtful student of Scripture and history ought to take note: for a theological feast of mature Puritan thought surely
awaits those that sup at this table. Esteemed, by the mid-1640's,
"as the father of the London Ministers," Gouge was elected as
Assessor for the Westminster Assembly on Nov. 25, 1647. His detractors
sometimes called him an "arch Puritan" (cf. Ibid., p. 35). Dr. Gouge's
"share of the useful work consisted of Kings, and the subsequent books
down to Esther, inclusive" (Smith, Select Memoirs of English and
Scottish Divines,
p. 534). Most of the others chosen to this work had similar credentials, though
not all exhibit equal proficiency and some later backslid from attainments
reached at this point. Nevertheless, when the commentators were first chosen,
these Annotations were produced by some of the most
qualified English Puritans -- as a historical high water mark for Puritan
scholarship was beginning to crest. Furthermore, in prosecuting this
work the divines note, "therefore we have put ourselves to much more pains
(for many months) in consulting with many more authors, in several languages,
than at first we thought of, that (for the propriety of the original text, for
pertinent and profitable variety of versions, for consonancy of parallel
Scriptures, and for perspicuity in clearing of the darkest places) we might
bring in such observations, as might not only serve to edify the ordinary
reader, but might likewise gratify our brethren of the ministry, at least such
among them, as have not the means to purchase, or leisure to pursue, so many
books, as (by order of the Committee) we were furnished with all, for the
finishing of the work, committed to our hands" (preface). As the work wore
on, however, it became apparent that the original intention (of printing these
annotations as marginal notes in the Bible) would no longer fit the scope and
length of commentary that had been produced. Thus, the notes were not added to
the Scriptures directly, but rather published as a separate commentary (which
we are offering here) -- except that we have divided the work into six volumes
rather than the original two, because of logistics.
Brook calls this a "useful work" and says
of its authors that "several of them were celebrated puritans" (Lives
of the Puritans,
vol. 3, p. 221n). Spurgeon comments that it "contains valuable
remarks" and that "the work is probably less esteemed than it should
be" (Commenting and Commentaries). In "A Narrative of His Life and
Death" prefixed to volume one of Gouge's three volume commentary on
Hebrews ($99.00 HP, $59.99 P), we also find this note, "He was likewise
chosen by a Committee of Parliament, among others, to make Annotations upon the
Bible, being well-known to be a judicious interpreter of Scripture. How well he
hath performed his trust is evident to all that read the annotations from the
beginning of the first book of Kings unto Job, which was his part."
Furthermore, Neal,
in his history, furnishes us with a helpful (though partial) list of each of
the specific authors and books of the Bible they worked on in the Annotations.
He writes, "Those with asterisks were not of the assembly. Rev. Mr. Ley,
subdean of Chester (The commentary on the five books of Moses), Dr. Gouge (1
& 2 Kings, 1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther), *Mr. Meric
Casaubon (The Psalms), Mr Francis Taylor (Proverbs), Dr. Reynolds (Ecclesiastes),
*Mr Smallwood, recommended by archbishop Usher (Solomon's Song), Mr. Gataker
(Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations), *Mr. Pemberton in the first edition and
*Bishop Richardson in the second (Ezekiel, Daniel, and the smaller Prophets),
Mr. Ley (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John), Dr. D. Featly... (St. Paul's Epistles).
There were two other persons concerned in this work, who might probably have
the other parts of Scripture allotted them, not here mentioned, viz. Mr.
Downham and Mr. Reading" (pp. 504-505).
Additionally, as should be evident, the
Annotations were not, strictly speaking, a work of the Westminster Assembly per
se, but rather a work primarily by men who attended the Westminster Assembly -- including a few
others chosen to this task by Parliament. Notwithstanding, we thought it
prudent to title this work in accord with one of the primary names by which it
has come to be commonly known (i.e "The Westminster Annotations"). As
with much of the literature that was produced by those attending the Westminster
Assembly, or by those sympathetic to their work, the
modern reader has much to gain by carefully considering the words of these
spiritual giants. This work is no exception and we pray that this
newly published edition will strengthen and unite the church, turn individuals
to righteousness, uplift the family, and help direct the nations to the
covenanting love that surrounded the work at the Westminster Assembly in the
seventeenth century -- and in all this bring glory to God! 2383 (8.5" X
11") pages.

Resource 14. KNOX,
JOHN
The Works of John Knox
(6 volumes)
Here is a chance to touch the
flame that ignited whole nations for covenanted Reformation. John Knox is
considered by many to have been the most biblically consistent and
thoroughgoing of all the great Reformers of the sixteenth century. "John Knox was
in fact the embodiment of the Scottish Reformation as its preacher, theologian,
liturgist, historian, and catalyst for reform." (Hall and Hall, ed. Paradigms
in Polity: Classic Readings in Reformed and Presbyterian Church Government [Grand Rapids, MI:
Eerdmans Publishing Company, 1994], p. 219)."With
this concern for purity of worship," notes Kevin Reed regarding Knox,
"it is no wonder that the Scottish Reformation was the most thorough among
any of the Protestant nations." (From the introduction to John
Knox, True and False Worship: A Vindication of the Doctrine that the Sacrifice
of the Mass is Idolatry [Dallas, TX: Presbyterian Heritage Publications, 1550
reprinted 1994], p.14.). "I know not," states George Smeaton,
"if ever so much piety and genius were lodged in such a frail and weak
body. Certain I am, that it will be difficult to find one in whom the gifts of
the Holy Spirit shone so bright to the comfort of the church." (Cited in
Thomas M'Crie, The Life of John Knox [1831], p. 272.) The Works of John Knox listed here is the
complete six volume set collected by David Laing, 1895. Concerning this 6
volume collection, Kyle, in The Mind of John Knox (p. 14) notes, "The only real basis for a study of Knox's thought must be
the writings of the reformer himself. From 1846 to 1864, David Laing collected
and edited nearly all of Knox's extant writings. This remarkable collection,
which scholars regard highly, is indispensable for any serious study of John
Knox."

KNOX, JOHN
Vol. 1 - Unedited History of the
Reformation in Scotland (Book 1 & 2) and 18 appendices.
Reid, in his Trumpeter of God, notes that Knox "wrote history as a prophet" and that,
wherever he could, he used original sources, many of which he reproduced. Furthermore,
he proclaims that this "is still a work that no one interested in this
area can afford to neglect." As W.C. Dickinson has commented, "it is his monument, for in it he puts flesh and blood on the
whole Reformation movement." Innes (John Knox, p. 45) says of this
work, "[t]he author who has enabled us to see his own confused and
changing age under 'the broad clear light of that wonderful book' the
History of the Reformation in Scotland, and who outside that book was the utterer of
many an armed and winged word which pursues and smites us to this day, must
have been born with nothing less than genius -- genius to observe, to narrate,
and to judge. Even had he written as a mere recluse and critic, looking out
upon his world from a monk's cell or from the corner of a housetop, the
vividness, the tenderness, the sarcasm and the humour would still have been
there." Moreover, Burton writes, "[t]here
certainly is in the English language no other parallel to it in clearness,
vigour, and picturesqueness with which it renders the history of a stirring
period" (cited in Innes, John Knox, p. 45). This photocopy
edition far surpasses the edited down version that is available in paperback.
Over 600 pages of stirring Reformation history.

KNOX, JOHN
Vol. 2 - Unedited History of the
Reformation in Scotland (Book 3, 4 and 5) and six appendices, index, etc.
"Knox portrayed the origins and development
of a movement and not a mere chronology of events... Knox based his arguments
on original sources and he often cited the documents in full. When Knox's
History is compared to the contemporary vernacular narratives of Bishop Leslie
and Sir James Melville, the superiority of Knox's work becomes evident. For the
most part, these writers were preoccupied with petty details and had no
conception of the momentous issues that hung on the events they recorded... Knox used history to demonstrate his single-track philosophy.
And his philosophy said: 'The hearts of men, their thoughts, and their actions
are but in the hands of God.' Lee said Knox's History was a sermon without
an audience, a preaching book, one long inflammatory speech in behalf of God's
truth as the reformer saw it." (Kyle, The Mind of John Knox, p. 13). Our editions
of volumes one and two of Knox's Works contain the
only full, unedited version of Knox's massive History of the
Reformation in Scotland available today.

A Dissertation on the
Prophecies, That Have Been Fulfilled, Are Now Fulfilling, or Will Hereafter Be
Fulfilled Relative to the Great Period of 1260 Years; The Papal and Mohammedan
Apostacies; The Tyrannical Reign of Antichrist, or the Infidel Power; and the
Restoration of the Jews (2 volumes, 1811)
Defends classic historicist
postmillennialism and its position relative to the 1260 year period mentioned
in Scripture. In the author's words, "(t)reats of a subject
peculiarly interesting to every serious Protestant: for the famous period of
1260 prophetic days, so frequently mentioned by Daniel and St. John,
comprehends the tyrannical reign of those three great opponents of the Gospel:
Popery, Mohammedism, and Infidelity. This period indeed may not improperly be
styled the permitted hour of the powers of darkness; since the Church is represented as being in an afflicted
and depressed state during the whole of its continuance, and since its expiration
will be marked by a signal display of the judgments of God upon his enemies and
by the commencement of a new and happy order of things." Understanding the Reformation position on eschatology,
as it is set forth in this work, gives us great insight into as to why the
Romanists (i.e. the Jesuits in particular) were so intent on planting both
Preterism (Alcasar, c. 1615) and Futurism (Ribera, c. 1585) among the
Protestants. 583 pages.

REFORMED CHILDREN'S BOOKS
Children love these colorfully illustrated Bible
stories written by Carine Mackenzie. These books contain NO pictures of
Christ and come from a Reformed publisher. They are finely crafted and can stand up
to the "hard use" that they will sometimes meet at the hands of
younger children. Because of the expensive type of paper used (and especially
the glossy covers) these books can weather some staining by liquids (however,
they are not indestructible). These features are especially helpful when you
you have a "full quiver," and some of your "arrows," in the
pre-reading years, have got use of their hands and legs to the extent that they
are quite mobile -- but are still young enough to handle books somewhat
roughly. These are among the best books for younger
children, regarding both content and durability, that we have found.

BAILLIE, ROBERT
Letters and Journals of
Robert Baillie (3 volumes, 1841 edition)
David Laing, ed. (three large volumes, 1841
ed.). Baillie was one of the Scottish delegates to
the Westminster Assembly and these volumes cover the period from 1637 to 1662
-- some of the most momentous days in the history of the Reformed faith.
These letters contain an intimate insider's look at these days of
international religious drama, national covenants, and the writing of the
greatest religious Confession ever given to men, the Westminster Confession
of Faith
($US19.98 hardcover; $US14.98 softcover). A major
source for 17th century Church history and a totally unique compilation --
peering into the very heart of Reformation! "Baillie was a keen Resolutioner, but lived to see his
mistake. To this he refers in the last of his Letters, 'We are in the
most hard taking we have seen at any time. It is the matter of my daily grief,
and I think it has brought all my trouble on me, and I fear it shall do me more
harm.' The work is of immense historical value" (Johnston, The
Treasury of the Scottish Covenant, p. 312). Cunningham is also cited by Johnston
regarding this work, "His Letter and Journals furnish us with some
pictures, as lifelike as photographs, of the principal actors then on the stage
of affairs, and not unfrequently gives us a peep of what was passing behind the
scenes. It is the book of all others to be read
by those who would understand the period of the Covenant."
About 1700 pages.

A History of Christian
Doctrine
(2 Vol., 1865)
Long out of print and still much sought after.
Over 900 pages, Shedd notes that his work "pays more attention to the orthodox
than to the latitudinarian drift of thought." Also that "[i]t is
impossible for any one author to compose an encyclopaedic history. Every work
of this kind must be stronger in some directions, than in others." With
this in mind he continues, writing, "I have
felt a profound interest in the Nicene Trinitarianism, the Augustinian
anthropology, and the Anselmic soteriology, and from these centres have taken
my departures." Major sections deal
with the history of philosophy, apologetics, Trinitarianism, Christology,
anthropology, soteriology, eschatology and symbols (i.e confessions: including
those from the Lutheran, Reformed, Papal, Greek, Arminian and Socinian systems
of thought). A very important set of books!

M'CRIE, THOMAS
The Life of Andrew Melville (2 volumes)
Almost 900 pages covering the life
and work of Knox's successor. Melville raised the level of learning and
education in Scotland to the point where it became a leading nation in this
field. He also advanced much of the practical work concerning the purifying of
the Presbyterian church, which Knox had started. Melville is often
remembered for his bold rebuke of "God's silly vassal," King James VI,
regarding the divine right of the true church to govern her own affairs,
without unwarranted interference from the civil magistrate.

Puritan Sermons 1659-1689
(6 volumes, reprinted 1844)
These are "The Morning Exercises at
Cripplegate, St. Giles in the Fields, and in Southwark by 75 Ministers of the
Gospel in or Near London with Notes and Translations by James Nichol." Volumes
vary in length from 624 to 804 pages and cover a great number of topics that
are essential to the Puritan view of God, the world and the Christian life. The Preface notes, "This celebrated collection of useful and orthodox
theology consists... of practical as well as doctrinal discourses, preached by
some of the most eminent divines of the 17th century, and published at
irregular intervals between the years 1660 and 1691." Volume
six, "The Morning Exercises against Popery; or the principal Errors of the
Church of Rome detected and confuted... has always been deemed a standard book
on that great controversy," which even in that day was "recently
revived... Two of the volumes here described were published prior to the year
1662; consequently all the authors of the sermons in those volumes were
Conformists up to that time; and though the majority of them afterwards became
for consciences' sake, Nonconformists, yet this circumstance, instead of
detracting from their moral and intellectual worth, has served, through
intervening years, to enhance their character, in public estimation, as divines
of great talents, erudition, and purity." In short, a sound, useful and
judicious collection of Puritan divinity. Includes
sermons by John Owen, Thomas Watson, Thomas Manton, Matthew Poole, Richard
Baxter, William Greenhill, James Janeway, Edmund Calamy, Thomas Vincent and
many other able ministers of the Gospel. Volume six contains a
phenomenal set of indices (covering all six volumes) which run 179 pages in
length.

DABNEY, ROBERT LEWIS
Discussions of Robert Lewis
Dabney (3 volumes, 1891)
Warfield called Dabney "the most
conspicuous figure and the leading theological guide of the Southern
Presbyterian Church, the most prolific theological writer that Church has as
yet produced."
These three volumes of articles and essays vindicate Warfield's statement.
"This is not a book to be read and returned to the library shelf,"
states the well known Baptist minister Al Martin, "rather, as I have found
to my own profit, it ought to be read, digested, and kept close at hand as a
guide, companion and constant prod to us." Dr.
Archibald Alexander called Dabney, "the best teacher of theology in the
United States, if not the world." Freundt notes, "Dabney championed the doctrines of Calvinism and applied
them consistently and practically to the great issues of his times."
Indexed, 1901 pages.

Terms of Communion (19
cassettes)
This set explains the six "Terms of
Ministerial and Christian Communion in the Reformed Presbyterian Church"
(i.e. the historic Covenanters). These terms
represent a high water mark concerning covenanted Reformation attainments thus
far in history. They are thoroughly Scriptural (as this set
proves) and should be adopted by all Churches as the minimum standard by which
people are admitted to to the Lord's Supper. The "rare bound
photocopy" An Explanation and Defense of
the Terms of Communion... ($US3.98 cerlox; $US15.00 hardcover)
by the Reformed Presbytery also covers much the same ground, adding some
arguments not found in this tape set, but generally containing less detail.
McKnight's "rare bound photocopy" Concerning
Close Communion ($US3.99 cerlox; $US15.00 hardcover) is also
very helpful in regard to the general subject of the Scriptural propriety of a close
communion and explicit, open, honest, and biblical terms for fencing the table
of the Lord.

following works by George Gillespie: "A Dispute Against English
Popish Ceremonies, 1637;" "An Assertion of the Government of the
Church of Scotland, 1644;" "111 Propositions Concerning the Ministry
and Government of the Church, 1644;" two of Gillespie's sermons, preached
before the House of Common (1644), and the House of Lords (1645); and
Gillespie's answers to Coleman which defends Presbyterian polity against
Erastianism. "Noted for his erudition, keen
mind, powerful debating skills and articulate speech and often called
"Great Mr.Gillespie" in his day, he has been referred to as the
prince of Scottish theologians and the supreme defender of Presbyterian church
government" (Nigel Cameron, ed. Dictionary of Scottish Church

Volume Two of The
Presbyterian's Armoury
Contains all of the
following works by George Gillespie: "Aaron's Rod Blossoming,
or the Divine Ordinance of Church Government Vindicated;" "A Treatise
of Miscellany Questions;" "Notes of Debates and Proceedings of the
Assembly of Divines at Westminster (March 1644 to January 1645)."
Gillespie is most famous for his Aaron's Rod which Walker called
"the chef d'oeuvre" of Scottish ecclesiastical theology (cited in
Cameron, Dictionary, p. 359-360). He was a thundering preacher and a
prominent member of the famous Westminster Assembly. Johnston, in The
Treasury of the Scottish Covenant cites the following concerning Gillespie:
"That is an excellent youth; my heart blesses God in his behalf. There is
no man whose parts in a public dispute I do so admire. He has studied so
accurately all the points that are yet to come to our Assembly; he has got so
ready, so assured, so solid a way of public debating; that however there be in
the Assembly divers very excellent men, yet, in my poor judgement, there is not
one who speaks more rationally and to the point than that brave youth has done
ever (Baillie from his Letters and Journals [3 volume Hardcover
photocopy OUT OF PRINT $US119.00; 3 vol. cerlox bound photocopy $US74.98). He
was one of the great men that had a chief hand in penning our most excellent
Confession of Faith and Catechisms. He was a most grave and bold man, and had a
most wonderful gift given him for disputing and arguing. The end of a dispute
held by him with some of the promoters of the Engagement was, that Glencairn
said, "There is no standing before this great and
mighty man." He was called malleus
Malignantium, "the hammer of the Malignants'" (Woodrow's Analecta). 558 pages.

Volume Three of The Presbyterian's
Armoury
Contains: Samuel Rutherford's Lex, Rex, or the Law and the Prince;
John Brown of Wamphray's Apologetical Relation;
David Calderwood's Pastor and Prelate, or
Reformation and Conformity Shortly Compared; and Causes of the Lord's Wrath Against Scotland agreed
upon by the General Assembly, 1651. Lex,
Rex is "the great political text of the Covenanters"
(Johnston citing Innes, Treasury, p. 305.) "Rutherford was the first to
formulate the great constitutional principle Lex est Rex -- the law is King...
much of the doctrine has become the constitutional inheritance of all countries
in modern times" (Idem.). Brown's anti-prelatical work deals with the
lawfulness of defensive wars, ecclesiastical and civil government, the hearing
of curates, etc. Brown's writing has been said to be
"decidedly superior to most of the Scottish writers of his day, and even
to Owen." Calderwood upholds Presbyterianism over and against
prelacy. The Causes of the Lord's's Wrath
was written anonymously (James Guthrie was the reputed author), and was at one
time burnt along with Lex, Rex.

It is the most amazing collection of works I

In
my opinion, it far surpasses Ages Software and their collections.*
The

I
am continually amazed at the depth and breadth of information in both

* It is SWRB's
opinion that Ages has done an excellent job in making various Reformed works
available on CD, so much so that we also distribute a number of their CDs at
discounts. Thus, please don't make more out of our publishing this comment than
is warranted, as this is a comment we received from one of our customers and it
expresses his opinion. As for Ages' work, we rejoice whenever the truth is
published, whether through others or through SWRB (as we play only a very small
part in the revival of classic Reformation, Puritan and Covenanter thought that
is now taking place worldwide through God's marvelous grace). The publication
of the best Reformers and Puritans of the past is one of the greatest needs of
our time, as this extends the blessings that come through faithful preachers
and authors into our day and into the future. Lord willing, the growth in the
publishing of faithful works from the past will help stem the tide of the great
declension and unfaithfulness which we are now witnessing all around us, even
(sadly) among many churches that still call themselves "Presbyterian"
and/or "Reformed." So please pray together with us that our Lord will
multiple the number of faithful publishers and publications, and that He will
give many the heart to stand for the truth no matter the consequences (as He
has done for our faithful forefathers, who resisted Satan and sin unto blood
and even to martyrdom in many cases). -- RB.
"SWRB's
Puritan and Reformation CD libraries are an invaluable source for the study of
the history and theology of classic Reformation theology. The collection is
remarkable not only for depth of content, but also for the rarity of many of
the works. Most seminary libraries will not have even a percentage of the works
available on these CD-ROMs. I cannot imagine anyone working in Reformation /
historical theology that would not want to use the Puritan and Reformed
libraries!"

"I
just received your CD collection. One bit of advice: you should instruct your
customers to take about 1 week off just to peruse the tables of contents for
these CD's, followed by another week off, in order to recover from the
state of shock in which they will find themselves.
In
all seriousness, this collection is almost impossible to describe. It has to be
seen to be believed. As a pastor, my library has just increased
dramatically.
As a Ph.D. student in Puritan and Post-Reformation studies, I have immediate
access to many of the same works for which I would normally need to access
through rare book rooms of theological libraries.
Thank
you for this labor of love. Thank you for making it accessible, both
financially and technologically. May the Lord richly bless you for this service
to his people."

all are doing a wonderful service by making all these materials so readily

available."

"It's

library like no other, and has already paid great dividends not only in my own
personal worship and study, but in my teaching as well. I first balked at the
price, but after seeing the vastness of the material, I almost feel as though
I'm robbing you!
I
pray that the Lord will allow you to get these materials into the hands of as
many ministers as possible."

Full
SWRB CD comment from Dr. Moore:
This
collection of 62 CDs is a truly astounding accomplishment. There is nothing
like this available to the ordinary Christian on the whole face of the earth.
Now,
for the first time ever, ordinary Christians can have direct and near
effortless access to the very cream of Puritan and Reformed, as well as
Covenanter, literature.
These
books are often in fascinating first editions and many are electronically
linked and indexed for the first time. The ordinary Christian may here dig
into a simply staggering wealth of literature, from devotional and sermonic
material to technical and scholarly works. Even in the days of the Long Reformation
itself ordinary Christians didn't get to see this kind of library -- most
couldn't read for a start, and even those who could, would never have been able
to afford to buy even a hundredth part of the material on these CDs. Truly we
are without excuse!
And
the significance of this collection goes even beyond that. No longer do we have
to wait for modern Reformed publishing houses to predict that a particular
Reformation or Puritan book will be sufficiently popular to make it economical
to reprint, or to deem it "safe" enough to be let loose on the modern
evangelical church. Rather, we are now able to see for ourselves the whole
range of the Puritan and Reformed publishing enterprise, including views that
are usually suppressed by most modern devotees of "Puritan" piety!
Buy
these CDs while you can, and find out for yourself what the First and Second
Reformations were really all about! You'll be truly amazed, and, by God's
grace, will grow from being an ordinary Christian to being an extraordinary
one. What they used to say of the Puritan John Flavel's preaching, can be
said of these CDs: they are "hissing hot"!

"This
side of eternity I'll never be able to repay the favor you have done mankind by
bringing these... CDs together.
The
first week of reading I grew more as a Christian reading those rich, pure
Gospel Commentators than I have in 18 years of Christian life. After reading some of
the Puritan CDs I have to get the Reformation set if it kills me. A fire is
burning within me. These... CDs are liable to start a revival fire unseen in
any generation... the Gospel in its pure form is seen in these... CDs.
Sir,
I cant say enough. What a treasure! I'll never be able to repay you this side
of heaven, but when we get there I am sure you will see the rich fruits of your
labor. God bless you for not being money hungry but wanting to see Christians
grow in the Lord... I love you even though we have never met, you have
helped me in my Christian walk tremendously with these... CDs.
I
am not bragging on the flesh, I am just giving honor where honor is due. The
Holy Ghost will take these CDs and light a fire unseen and unheard of. God
bless you all at Still Waters."

you so very much for the CDs.
I am amazed at the quality and quantity of
the literature...
I
cannot imagine any other single thing being done by any man or group of men in
the earth today that is of such extensive, present, and enduring value as
this CD work is.
God
be praised that he uses sickly and weak men to forward his kingdom, that the
work may not be mistaken to be wrought by the might of men, but by his Spirit.
