The text of the present edition is based primarily upon the published edition in The Works of John Knox, edited by David Laing (Edinburgh:James Thin, 1895), vol. 4, pp. 141-214. The present publisher has edited the text to reflect contemporary spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Bracketed words are supplied where needed to complete the sense of a sentence.
